Discover the key characteristics that define each fuel

In the current panorama of the industrial sector in Mexico, there are four main fuels used for
steam generation in boilers, heat production in drying ovens or electricity generation: Natural
Gas, LP Gas, Fuel Oil and Diesel. Each of these fuels has unique characteristics that make
them more suitable for the specific needs of each sector. While some offer greater efficiency
and lower pollutant emissions, others may be more economical but have a greater
environmental impact.

The following are some key characteristics for each fuel:

In particular, with respect to cost behavior, the following table shows the variation in fuel
prices during 2023 and the first half of 2024, expressed in USD/MMBTU. These values
reflect only the cost of the fuel itself, not including additional expenses or other associated
charges.

In conclusion, natural gas is positioned as an ideal alternative to LPG, fuel oil and diesel,
both in terms of price and lower environmental impact. In addition, the increasing availability
of natural gas infrastructure makes it even more attractive for companies looking to optimize
their operations, reduce their carbon footprint and save on maintenance costs, as natural
gas is cleaner and generates less waste in equipment, prolonging its useful life and reducing
the need for repairs.
